Comox Valley RCMP looking for people who may have unknowingly purchased stolen property

The Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit would like to hear from anyone who purchased anything from Michael Leighton in early 2020. These items ranged from wallets, to gift cards, to jewellery and more.

The investigation that led to 27 charges against the Comox Valley man is not over yet. The Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit believes that Leighton may have been selling stolen property online and would like buyers to come forward.

“If you purchased items from Michael Leighton between January and March, we would like to determine whether or not the items had been stolen from someone here in the Comox Valley” said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. “If we can prove that the items were stolen, we will be recommending additional charges and getting the property back to the rightful owners” she added.

If you have information, or purchased something from Michael Leighton, please call Cst. Turner, Comox Valley RCMP Street Crimes Unit at (250) 338-1321 and refer to file 2020-3187.
