Coffee in hand, community in mind

On Wednesday, February 22nd 2017, Comox Valley RCMP Inspector Tim Walton, spent some time walking in the downtown core of Courtenay. After picking up a coffee, Inspector Walton hit the streets to speak to shoppers and shop keepers alike, to hear directly from people downtown any concerns or issues they run into.

“We are still gathering information to set our policing priorities for the 2017/2018 year”, Stated Inspector Walton. “We did not have a very large turnout for our community meeting, and I still want to hear from people what we are doing right or wrong, whatever the case maybe.”

Every year, RCMP detachments set local priorities, which is to personalize policing for their areas. There are also Federal and Divisional priorities that are set out as well.

For the 2016/2017 year, the Comox Valley RCMP Policing priorities included Traffic-Road Safety, Organized crime-drug trafficking, Property-Theft from Autos, Domestic Violence and Crime Reduction-Prolific Offenders.
