March 24th Shooting Update

The Comox Valley RCMP continue to investigate the shooting of a 31 year old male that occurred on Piercy Avenue, in Courtenay on March 24th, 2017.

On arrival, investigators confirmed that a 31 yr old male had suffered a non-life threatening gunshot injuries. An altercation had broken out with persons known to each other, resulting in the shooting. The male victim was taken a local hospital, and later flown to a larger hospital for surgery.

The suspects fled in a vehicle but were identified and arrested within days of the incident.

Investigators have determined that the incident was not a random act of violence. All parties were known to each other and the victim has declined police assistance.

“Although the suspects were initially arrested, they have since been released and charges have not yet been laid. The Comox Valley RCMP continue to work with the victim in the hopes of advancing the investigation and all investigative avenues are being pursued,” says Cst Rob Gardner.

Arrests Made in Courtenay Shooting

Two males have been arrested after a shooting that occurred in Courtenay, on Friday, March 24th. A 31 year old male was rushed to a local hospital with injuries sustained after being shot.  The male was flown to a larger hospital for treatment, there is no current update on his status.

‘The investigation continued throughout the weekend, and the Comox Valley RCMP have made two arrests in this incident”, stated Cst Rob Gardner, Media Relations officer of the Comox Valley RCMP. “One arrest was made late this morning. Both males are currently in custody.’
