From January 2nd to January 8th, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to 14 calls for theft from vehicles. Items taken from these vehicles included wallets, a purse, drivers licences, passports, bank/credit cards, cash/change, licence plates, gift cards, Golf Clubs, Gasoline, portable DVD player, a knife, . The Comox Valley RCMP is asking that if this occurs to you, please report it, so the crime statistics can be as accurate as possible, but please, lock your car doors. The majority of these thefts can be deterred, simply by locking your doors and not leaving anything of value in your vehicle.

On January 2nd, the Comox Valley RCMP was notified of a theft from a business located on the 400 block of Lerwick Road, in Courtenay. The theft had occurred on December 30th. The item stolen is described as a 3’2” 8lb stuffed bear with Brown hair and Black eyes. (2018-59)

A residential break, enter and theft was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on January 2nd. The residence, located on the 5800 block of Island Highway North, was broken into by an unknown person(s) sometime during the day. Items stolen include electronics and alcohol. The Integrated Forensic Identification Section is assisting with this investigation. (2018-91)

The theft of an inflatable Christmas decoration was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on January 3rd. The large Santa, riding a Motorcycle, was at a residence located on the 1100 block of 17th Street, in Courtenay. (2018-112)

Mischief to a vehicle was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on January 4th. The vehicle had been parked overnight on the 1100 block of Stewart Avenue, in Courtenay. A mirror had been broken by an unknown person. (2018-161)

A break, enter and theft from a business was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on January 4th. Over the weekend, a locked compound, located at a business on 5th Street, in Courtenay, had been entered and several propane tanks were stolen. The Propane tanks are spray painted with CCC in red paint on them. If you see these tanks, please contact the Comox Valley RCMP at 250-338-1321 and cite file number 2018-166.

On January 6th, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to an alarm at a business located on the 100 block of Island Highway North. It was found that an unknown person had broken into a fenced compound. While in a compound, a window for the business was broken, however the business was not entered. (2018-267)
